Powering Sustainable, Eco-Friendly Research
Green roofs that are completely or partially covered with vegetation planted over a waterproofing membrane—represent an exciting frontier in urban sustainability. They play a critical role in reducing the urban heat island effect, improving air quality, and mimicking natural water cycles in developed areas.
A primary focus of Carleton University’s research project is studying rainwater retention. By analyzing how effectively green roofs capture, absorb, and filter rainfall, researchers can help urban planners design smarter, more climate-resilient cities.
To bring this study to life, the university team needed reliable water-management systems to construct their experimental setups. We stepped in to provide the essential infrastructure required to capture and monitor rainwater runoff accurately.
The Donation: Building the Testing Stations
To help set up their testing stations and ensure the research team has everything they need for precision tracking, Bronson Johnson donated a complete package of high-quality materials, including:
16 Heavy-Duty Gutters (10ft each) to capture and funnel runoff.
32 End Caps to secure the testing modules.
160 Feet of Leaf Screens to keep debris out of the testing apparatus and ensure clean water data.
